Chelsea Crawford is a Registered Dietitian who manages the CHEF Teaching Kitchen at the Mays Family YMCA at Potranco and provides nutrition counseling. She graduated magna cum laude from Texas State University with a Bachelor’s degree in Dietetics. Her desire to study nutrition developed after joining a triathlon training team at the YMCA and adopting healthier eating habits; with this change she noticed her immunity, alertness, and overall state of mind significantly improved. The connection she discovered between nutrition and her renewed health sparked her interest in dietetics as a career. Chelsea has previously worked as a Pediatric Dietitian at The Children’s Hospital of San Antonio where she provided medical nutrition therapy, nutritional counseling, and education for children and families. Her time spent as a Pediatric Dietitian lead to her interest in culinary medicine as she discovered there was a strong link between the eating habits formed during childhood and chronic disease later in life. Chelsea is thrilled to be a collaborative team member of the CHEF program and the YMCA of Greater San Antonio.
